First Chance 1 / Primary Sleepover 1 - GO
Matthew 28:18-20 "Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
It seems like everyone is always going somewhere. I know my family is. We are always on the go. Jesus told his disciples to go and make more disciples. We follow Jesus because he’s the only way to Heaven. No matter where we go, Jesus is someone that we should share with people we meet. So I know you are going to go places this summer. Why not make one of those places Camp Calvary? Bring a friend and learn more about what Jesus has done for all of us and continues to do, so we can share it with the world around us!
Boys Primitive - Start to Start Over
This year we will be looking into how it all got started from Creation to the flood. We will talk about how God got everything going. How God was the beginning, to Earth, plants and people; all the way to the flood. We will also spend time each day on work projects giving back to the camp that has touched so many lives over the years. Our mission this year will once again be Kentucky Hunters For The Hungry. Focusing on how we, as men, can feed our families as well as those less fortunate.
We will also be fishing and learning how to clean what we catch. So, if you have poles and tackle feel free to bring your own. And, as always, we will end the week with a fish fry. We will also spend time at the range with gun safety, trap shooting and archery. Come ready to further your walk in Christ, make new friends and get back to the basics. We look forward to teaching your young men to be self-reliant and how to take care of themselves as well as those around them.
Field & Stream - Even if You Don't, My Hope is You Alone
This week we will be diving into what we hope for and where our faith truly is. In a dark and evil world, it can be hard to find hope. During this week we will be diving into the book of Daniel. Many of the men in this book faced hard situation but remained faithful to the Father through those. The scripture where our theme is rooted is from the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego standing before King Nebuchadnezzar after refusing to bow to his statue. They were facing potential death by fire in a furnace but remained faithful to the Father. 'If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.” Daniel 3:17-18 NIV.
It is our Goal to teach the truth of God's word and teach what it is to be Men of God as we navigate today's world. And even in the midst of hard times finding our hope and faith rooted in Christ.
Field and Stream is for High School Boys. We will be engaging in various outdoor activities (tomahawk throwing, skeet shooting, 22. LR Shooting, trapping, hiking, fishing, Etc.). Feel free to bring any shotgun or 22. Rifle you would like, there will also be some provided, and they will all be left under lock and key and only handled by adults when the time is appropriate. Also, if you are a fisherman bring your own poles and tackle. We will have limited poles.
Junor 1 - GLOW- Go Light Our World
We live in a world that is messy. Sin and darkness are becoming common, and no one is stopping it. We need young people to step up and speak the truth. The definition of glow is to shine with a steady light. Glow teaches kids how to shine bright for Jesus and empower them to be a light and let their light shine in a dark world. Imagine a life full of light! The presence of light has the ability to transform life. The warmth and beauty that comes from being in the light is inspiring. We want to challenge students to see their light and how it exists in them. We are light and we are a consistent glow that brings warmth to the world.
Angling & Aquatics - Reelin' It In
Feel like you're drowning in all the chaos of life around you? Wishing someone would reel you in to shore to get you out of the depths of the chaos? This trip to Lake Barkley will be like none other as we look at how to reel in the different areas that we have to fight and struggle with. Aspects of life that lead to sin and separation from God. We will look to Romans to guide us with everyday issues we struggle with because we have conformed to the world's influences and not surrendered to God. We will learn the ways to combat these issues by diving into God’s word and reeling it into our lives like Paul teaches in Romans.
Come along with us for a week of reeling in God’s word and hopefully reeling in some big fish too! What a great week to be at the lake, join with God’s people and dive in His word while reelin’ it into our lives.
Girls Primitive - Generation Faithful (Gen F)
Have you ever felt unequipped to deal with things as a Christian in this generation? Life around us is too intense, too scary…There is so much conflict, emotions run high and it’s easy to get overwhelmed and feel unsure! How do we live in a world like ours as Christians and make a real difference? How do we hold unswervingly to the hope that we profess (Heb 10:23)?
During Girls Primitive 2024 we will dive into the call that God has placed on our individual lives. It is no mistake that God has you here, right now, in this generation, for HIS purposes. We can be faithful and most effective as Christians when we understand the true character of God and how He never calls us to live faithfully without first being faithful Himself (Heb 10:23).
Come prepared for a week in the woods (once registered you will be sent a packing list to help) and an offsite hiking trip! We can’t wait to spend time together as we explore what it looks like to be the Faithful Generation that God calls us to be, right here in 2024 and beyond.
Intermediate 1 - Watchmen
We live in a world that is full of lost people. Who is looking out for them? Who is calling for them to come to, or back to God? They’re called Watchmen.
In Ezekiel 3, God instructs His prophet to be a Watchman. At Intermediate I, we’re going to look into what it means to be a Watchman for the Lord, what happens when we don’t live up to that calling, and what can happen if we do. It’s incredible to know that we have such an important part to play in God’s Kingdom work!
Along with learning what being a Watchman is all about, we’re going to hide God’s Word in our hearts through Scripture Memorization, we’ll connect with others, and have lots of fun with games and challenges.
We hope to see you there!
Senior 1 - Unshakable Faith
How can we stand firm when life gets rocky? Our identity is received as a gift from God. We don’t have to chase after meaning, or compare ourselves to others, because we know God created each of us in His image, uniquely and for a purpose. Embracing this truth allows us to stand on a firm foundation, and to persevere through trials. Lessons this week will address common challenges teens face, including how to establish healthy relationships and use social media appropriately.
"Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain." 1 Corinthians 15:58 NIV
Girls Wilderness - Even If
Psalm 16:1-2 - “Keep me safe, my God, for in you I take refuge. I said to the Lord, ‘You are
my Lord. Apart from you I have no good thing.’” (NIV).
Since we were kids, we’ve learned to label things “good” and “bad”. Our friends and family have tried to show us the difference between good and bad choices and protect us from experiencing hardship. We know evil and tragedy and sadness are a part of this world because of sin, but we don’t often think about
how God is still working through the bad. If we are honest, sometimes we might even doubt if He CAN work in the midst of awful situations. The response to that doubt is He CAN and He DOES.
There are so many examples in the Bible of how God takes horrible situations, weaknesses or tragedy and uses them for His glory. Matthew, Peter, Joseph, Gideon, David, Samson and Paul are only a few who have witnessed God’s glory in the midst of trials. Not everything that happened in their lives was good. Not everything that happens in YOUR life is good. But God is good—and he is pouring his goodness into your life.
Being a middle school girl is not a walk in the park. It includes facing challenges daily that make us question, “How can God use this disaster for something good?” God’s greatness, love and power have no limits. He cares deeply when we hurt and brings us indescribable peace through the hurt. Even in the darkest of times….even if we think there is no way out and no good that can happen, He is present and working. He is greater than our “Even Ifs”. You can trust this: God has a good purpose, a good plan, and a good reason.
Girls Wilderness is the perfect opportunity for God to reveal how His power is greater than any difficult times we face. Come join us as we spend the week crafting, eating, worshiping, making friends, and finding God in the “Even Ifs”.
First Chance 2 & Primary Sleepover 2 - Master Builder
"According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled master builder I laid a foundation, and someone else is building on it. Each builder must choose with care how to build on it. - 1 Corinthians 3:10
Join us as we explore the Building Blocks of Faith and have some fun with LEGOS along the way! At First Chance 2 & Primary Sleepover 2 we try to give the kids an introduction to camp. They will get the chance to have a little time with many of the things that make camp great. (Worship, Campfire, Waterslide, Rockwall, Crafts, Canteen, Lessons, Devotional Time, Games, Family Groups, & So Much More) Come and join us for Master Builder this summer!
Wilderness 1 - The Guardian of the Galaxy: Grooted in Him
An enemy lurks in the dark and threatens our safety. We need a Guardian, and we need to be rooted (or should we say…Grooted…?) in Him. That Guardian is Christ. During Wilderness 1, kids will explore what it means to be rooted in Christ and will discover that God is the Guardian of the Galaxy, and of their hearts, minds, and souls. Activities include creek fun, (close-toed shoes are required for the creek), 22 rifle shooting, and archery. We also plan on traveling to Willisburg Christian Church on a camp wagon for fireworks (weather permitting). We highly recommend sending your child with a backpack and water bottle, as they will be engaged in extensive outdoor activities. This is Allison and Allan Noort’s fourth year as deans for this week of camp. Allison has helped with Wilderness 1 for the past 15+ years, loves every minute, and is excited to continue her adventure as dean. Allan has worked Wilderness 1 for several years and brings a lot of support, fun, and excitement. They look forward to learning more about Christ, having fun, and fellowshipping with your children this week of camp.
We hope to hike to main camp one day for the rock wall, water slide, and some fishing fun. Also, we will be showing a brief, 5-minute, clip of a scene from the “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1” movie to wrap up our week.
Junior 2 - God's Perfect
The Bible is full of some really amazing stories! They’re more exciting than anything you’d find on YouTube. These stories were written in the Bible so we could know God better and know how perfect He is as well as how we can follow His plan for our lives. So, join us at Junior II for trick shots, head-to-head competitions, the coonbeaver, get crafty, wheel unfortunate, and some other epic antics that you’ll certainly love.
Pound it, noggin, see ya this Summer!
Wilderness 2 - Wrestling With The Truth
John 16:13 But when he, the spirit of truth comes he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell what is yet to come.
This week we will be discussing how to recognize and find the truth in an 'everything is truth' world.
Intermediate 2 - King on Tour
Go on a week-long journey with us where we will tour Jesus' life. Starting with His birth and taking a deep dive into His ministry and teachings. Then on to His death and resurrection. We will learn together how we can be more like Jesus and how His love for us is unfailing. Don't forget some old clothes for some crazy games and a great holiday outfit for "Dress Like a Holiday Day"!
Wilderness 3 - Prayer
We'll be taking a deep look into why we should pray, how we should pray, and how to identify where and when God is answering us. If our whole faith hinges on a personal relationship with our Creator, then learning our communication with Him becomes vital!
Senior 2 - Traitors
Isaiah 53:6—"We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.”
In our sin, each one of us has been separated from God and turned to our own way. Scripture tells us that no one is righteous; no one is good. That makes us traitors against God’s will. The truth of the Gospel is that God gave us his son, to bear our sins, so that we can be made right with him, and brought back into his family. During Senior 2 this year, high schoolers will be diving into the Word and finding stories about traitors who went against what was right or what was the Law. We will also be playing a weeklong version of the game The Traitors, with a prize pot for the winning team at the end of the week. Come join us and find out about the FAITHFUL one who came to bring all of us traitors to him.
